Journey's History:
On Christmas Eve, December 2006, 50 people gathered with a vision for reaching southeast Lexington. These were the founding members of Journey Baptist Fellowship, a unique, called out group, who were committed to a new church start.
The majority of those founding members were a remnant of the once vibrant Chevy Chase Baptist Church which closed its doors in 2006. Pastor Jim McKenzie made the transition with these folks as former pastor of Chevy Chase Baptist and founding pastor of Journey. Jim brings the wisdom of being lead pastor for more than 35 years.
The members of Journey Baptist Fellowship yearn to discern and carry out the will of our great and gracious God. For now, God has led us to the Richmond Road and Man-O-War area. The congregation is eager to work with God to bless and redeem this part of the great city of Lexington through the great and glorious news of Jesus Christ.
